Nonny

Standard

So, for the second day in a row I’ve had help from Heaven in making a page.
today I got my new 6×6 Prima Divine paper pad from Scrapadabadoo.com
LOVE Carol and Barrie. and I was flipping through deciding which sheets I loved and which were IMHO so-so.
when the wind blew over a paper with a picture of my Great Grandmother Margaret Cox (Nonny as we called her).
my boys were really little when they knew her and don’t really remember her much at all. and that’s a shame because she was an incredible woman. she worked at Schwinn Bicycles for I think 50 yrs ( they issued pins for every 5 yrs mile stone and she had a bunch of them and the gold one). she was also an exceptional baker and cook, everyone begged for her recipes. her daughter (Mary Ann) was my mother’s mom. anyway enough genealogy for today. this picture fell onto the open Prima pad while I was reading the Prima July challenge here http://prima.typepad.com/prima/2014/06/julys-bap-is-ready.html
I didn’t think I could do this challenge because it has to be 90% Prima, but then I realized I had a new Prima pad.
I used 3 sheets from the Prima Divine 6×6 pad and some spare black card stock some Prima Time Traveler’s stamps and a few from my stash and it was done. I don’t know if Nonny helped or if Krystal was still hanging around but I love the two pages together, and oddly enough both used Prima papers ( considering I cant afford much Prima ).
I hope Nonny and Krystal like this page as much as I do.

Krystal

Standard

A while back I found a picture of my niece Krystal from when she was pretty little.
she is sitting on the Easter Bunny’s lap. I was having trouble doing anything with it- nothing seemed to want to work. then today I thought id look at my 8×8 pad of G45 Sweet Sentiments and my 6×6 pad of Prima princess papers.
I was going through my box of “ideas” ( baggies with things in them that I think will work together and come together to make a project, ie: bag for inchies, bag for ATCs, and bag for flowers etc) and the bag with Krystal’s picture fell out. it had the picture and some Sweet Sentiment tiles I made and some more SS flowers I fussy cut etc. it landed on the princess pad. so I randomly flipped it open and the perfect paper was there. the page literally fell into place. all I had left to do was attach everything.
I hope She likes it up there in heaven, and she knows we miss her and think of her daily.

end of June

Standard

ok guys,
it’s June 26th and the weather is perfect. I’d like to say I got nothing done because I was outside enjoying it, but instead I have been inside being totally lazy and basically going through my stash to see what spoke to me.
today it was some lovely tags I received from a swap I did with Jeanne (jeannieinabottle.blogspot.com). we swapped
2 ATCs and some embellishments.
these are the cards I made for her

and these are the ones she sent me

aren’t they lovely?
so anyways back to what I made today – a tag. I used a Tim Holtz technique from the Inspire Laugh Create Facebook group i’m in. basically you inked by spraying the back of a stencil and then printed it on the tag. well I only have alphabet stencils so I was limited. I decided to do a school theme maybe find a school picture to put on it. red, blue and yellow are the primary colors I associate with school and I have those. I sprayed red on one stencil and blue on the other and over lapped them. added yellow stars and Voila. added a handmade chalkboard and some thickers and I was done (minus picture – my boys were home schooled so lot of pictures non school lol). adding a ribbon died from left over spray made the project eligible for Scrapadabadoo’s biweekly challenge and I found another anything goes challenge it can be entered in on the Try It on Tuesday http://tuesdaytaggers.blogspot.com/

is it my favorite? no. but I tried new things and I think I did ok. this blog is to help me learn so if you have any suggestions feel free to add them.

some other little things I’ve made this week include a card for a color challenge on Mad Crafter Gigglers facebook page
IMG00019
and a toilet paper roll mini I made with my sister Danine in mind – kind of a late Mother’s day gift (or early for next year)

anyways time to make dinner – tonight is chicken fajitas with Mexican rice and chips. Make Dale happy.

Santa’s Boot and mini

Standard

hi guys,
back in oct I had a close call and a visit to the ER.
when I got out I was officially retired and looking for things to do.
so I went youtube hopping and got back into scrapbooking.
I still have a gazillion pictures I need to get printed and scrapped but that’s another day.
one video I found was Kathy Orta’s stocking and mini

I immediately fell in love with the project and Kathy.
however I thought why a stocking? it lays flat.
why not a boot? stand up right and hold a mini.
I tossed around a few ideas including fur lined, white topped etc.
I finally came up with a man’s styled boot clunky and chunky with a hidden mini.
not a lot of bling as my son Clay pointed out “Santa wouldn’t wear bling”.
papers for the mini are from one of my favorite collections from oriental trading.
the mini holds a ton of pictures and has room for full size tags for more.
the surprise in the mini is the full 12×12 layout I designed. it folds to fit in the mini and opens for a full page.
that’s something I did on my own – one of the what ifs that worked out really nicely.

Sweet Sentiments G45 baby book

Standard

My brother asked me to make a baby girl album for a lady who works with him.
I used Sweet Sentiments by G45 and some free digi back grounds from Jodi lee.
I made it following Laura Dennison’s photo pholio ustream classes.
Her page for tutorials etc is http://lauradenisondesigns.com/
Her work is amazing! and easy to follow.
I highly recommend checking it out.
this album was a step out of the ordinary for me as I usually do more
masculine or CAS projects. I handmade all the embellishments, the flowers, the tiles etc.
I hope you like it as much as I do and she does.

GHASTLY GHOULIES

Standard

Hey guys,
here are some GHASTLY GHOULIES!
they are gift bag / invitations I made in june.
I got the idea for them randomly after doing a challenge for Itza’s Thoughts “what’s in your bag”.
they are supposed to be made from bags, and can be made from them.
however mine are made from 12×12 DCWV papers.
the invitation pulls out and the back is open for goodies.
they stand up on their own and can be personalized in many ways.
I made a youtube video

go check it out.

Beginnings

Standard

Well where to start. . .

I guess ill start with a little about me. I’m too old to tell you my age but not quite old enough to care if you know I’m old. I’ve been crafty all my life, my grandmother always encouraged me to make things. from crochet to baking, from playing with clay to drawing, and needle work to sewing. I wont say I’m the best or most creative out there by any means. I adore crafters like Carol Duvall, Sandi G, Aleene, Laura Dennison, and Kathy Orta just to name a few. there are unbelievable numbers of videos out there to teach anyone just about anything. what I can do well is adjust their ideas and techniques and make them work for me in my own way. I watch tons of videos from all over daily and I then let the ideas and inspiration flow and try to make something uniquely mine. when I do follow someone closely or make something I just saw and had to make I will always try to include links to what I watched so you can go back to the source and get a better view.

Majority of my projects are C.A.S. clean and simple. also a lot are C.A.S.Ed copied and slightly edited (like I said I see something and then make it my way. Although a few are random ideas and I wonder’s, and when those work out ill share them too.

I’m going to try and post here at least once a week and maybe more if I get a project done in between. ill try to not get personal stuff on here although those who know me know I can go off on tirades over things and that I get distracted pretty easy, so rambling happens.

So wish me luck,

Miki
