#Cards4Love Christmas in July

Standard

GOOD MORNING BLOGLAND!!

Welcome to my blog,

I know it needs work, I haven’t figured out how to add blinkies or badges etc yet, but its like me, a work in progress.

Most of you here will be looking for details on the Christmas in July blog/youtube hop for #cards4kids. you should go here ~~~ Visit our main site for ALL of the details: http://bit.ly/Cards4Love
this is where they have all the links to hoppers and all the details on the prize package and how to enter.

Now if you are still here then I am hoping you are here for details on MY projects specifically. I made 3 cards that are super fast and easy and require no special tools etc. Fun projects for kids, or groups.

My first one is the lacey tree

for this card I used Victorian style fan lace found here https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/victorian-style-fan-lace-ga285
you can make 3 of these cards from a unit.
When I started the lace looked like this

so with Deb’s voice in my head I went ahead and cut it apart *GASP* but don’t worry. When you are done cutting you will have this beautiful floral chain left to play with  11029507_10200550987932801_2876194638389534713_n
I then took my card base and added a colored layer measuring 4 x 5 1/4 and then a white layer measuring 3 3/4 x 5 that I embossed with snowflakes. I layered 3 fans by laying the first two so outer edges touched the outside of the white layer and third one went in the center of the first two. Next two went on top of first layer and last one went on top. I printed ( or you could stamp ) a sentiment, backed it with the colored paper and added it with a single layer of foam tape. Over all the card is still flat enough for a regular envelope and is safe for our troops. If you want to make these for yourself and not the troops ( who can’t have reflective or 3D cards ) you could easily add trims and blings to this ( I like the idea of adding https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/off-white-faux-pearl-garland-trim-ga294 some pearl strands or maybe some of this https://www.zibbet.com/goneartsy/10mm-acrylic-iridescent-disk-garland-ga233 )
Deb has some really great prices but I have good news for anyone reading this. For this event Deb has given me a DT code good for not 10% BUT 15%. so if you want to get some of these goodies and make a dozen of these cards use my code and you can save 15%. what a GREAT DEAL! I know I am blessed to have such good friends who would do that for me for this cause.
The code is DTMiki and it works on ANY GA item.

My second cards is a take on what will be my third cards but I wanted to try Deb’s coloring lace techniques ( you can find them on her ustream channel http://www.ustream.tv/channel/gone-artsy-live-classes live classes are usually on Tuesday evenings but if you want a more detailed schedule message me and I can get you one ).

11745434_10200550988092805_1529048465176624395_n The details on the snowman and back ground will be covered in the next card info. the main change is the colored fans being used for the tree.

ok on to the third card.
This one is definitely one you can make with younger kids or older ones. You can go simple or fancy (just remember the rules for troop cards – nothing reflective and has to go 1 stamp regular mail).
11703183_10200550987252784_5887017009143872933_n This cards really is cuter in person ( someday I will get a better camera 😀 )
To make it I took my 8.5×11 white cardstock and cut it in half to 5.5×8.5. Then I used my printer to add the sentiment and little image on the inside. I colored the image with some colored pencils just to help it pop a bit ( kids can use crayons or adults can use markers etc).
11781842_10200550988532816_2153867960477229039_n
I cut a piece of blue cardstock at 4×51/4, embossed it with snowflakes and used white ink to highlight them some ( both of those steps are optional). I cut another piece of white cardstock in half to get 4 1/4×11 then cut that into 3 pieces roughly 3 1/2×4 1/4 you get six from 1 sheet. This is torn in about the middle in a not very straight line to layer on top of the blue cardstock at the bottom to make the snow hills.
Next comes the snowman and tree.
Cut 3 white circles ( I used 1″ 1 1/4″ and 1 1/2″ you can use same sized circles or different sizes it will just change your snowman up some which is great!). Cut 2 squares of green paper ( I used white core to give the snow effect but that’s optional ) mine were about 1″x1″ . Tear those in half across the diagonal and layer for the tree. The hat I cheated and used a cut file on my Pazzles but you could cut them by hand or use a square and strip for the hat. I dusted it with white for cold look again optional. I used a 6″ piece of ribbon for scarf and colored on a face.

I put these together as cards and as kits for the kids. The kits look like this
11057521_10200550987692795_7878407849110101024_n
These really are easy and inexpensive to make. For 1 dozen cards you need
6 sheet 8.5×11 white cards stock ( cut in half at 5 1/2 for cards bases)
2 sheets white paper ( for snow hills )
2 sheets white paper ( for snowmen – I used my pazzles and got 12 snowmen on 1 sheet but if you are cutting a different size or by hand etc you will probably use 2 )
3 sheets of 8.5×11 blue paper ( for background layer )
1 sheet each of black and green ( for hats and trees)
12 envelopes

I REALLY hope that no matter who’s cards designs you use that you make at least 12 cards or kits for this GREAT event.
If you want the doc for printing my cards base all you have to do is subscribe to my blog or youtube and shoot me a message, I will get you the doc.

What a week!

Standard

Have you ever had one of THOSE weeks?!
This has definitely been one of THOSE weeks for me. I have about 5 open projects on my table and 0 finished! I have finished all my cards/kits for the #Cards4Love Christmas in July hop, but haven’t mailed them because I need to take some more pictures to post here 🙂
I have Samantha’s baby album ( the Kathy Orta MDM ) pages on spine and mostly matted waiting on time to get back in that frame of mind ( 3 paper pads and how many weeks later I still cant seem to find the oompf to want to work on it). There is the Daddy’s Little Princess album, waiting for inspiration to finish covers inside and out ( what I thought I wanted didn’t want to work with the G45 papers GRRRRRRRRR) other than that I LOVE this album. The Halloween one using more G45 Rare Oddities ( the issues with this one are way to numerous to start mentioning – would be easier to restart except I didn’t get the 12×12 papers ), There is the Blank one I made for a friend and need to mail ( the priority box Clay brought home today is too shallow so we try again tomorrow ).  The papers for the Disney album arrived, base is made and I’m waiting on magnets to arrive.  Worst part is I really don’t have any mojo or oomf this week, lots of storms rolling through and hotter weather maybe? I don’t know but it has to end I have too much to do. More next week.
